Call of Duty is a race against the clock, bomb defusing mission. Like all of Escape Mission’s themes, Call of Duty is a multi-room experience with a lot of tech and automation.

Theming is definitely an area where Escape Mission struggles. The website touts a story involving kidnapped children and an elaborate trap. The reality is that once you begin the escape, the story and theme get thrown out the window. The puzzles and rooms don’t really relate to each other and there is no common narrative throughout the escape. There's no music or sound effects to set the mood, and the rooms themselves are very sparsely decorated. However, in other establishments, too many theme decorations can lead to red herrings, so some players may prefer Escape Mission’s straightforward puzzle solving nature.

The technology found throughout the escape is definitely Call of Duty's strongest aspect. The vast majority of puzzles involve technology, rather than simple locks or lockboxes. Although some of the puzzles were quite interesting and unique, a few of them were triggered by random chance. On more than one occasion a sensor was triggered and a door opened without us really understanding why. The puzzles were logical and intuitive with the exception of a book related puzzle that probably needs a little more guidance to make sense.

Overall, Call of Duty is a decent escape that focuses more on puzzles and technology than design and theme integration. If you're looking for a good brain workout in the Scarborough area, then you should check this one out.
