Castle Escape is made up of a multitude of rooms and prop-actuated lighting effects. Unfortunately, there is not much originality in the castle theme and the presentation does not match the variety of spaces. The rooms themselves were just bare drywall and the detailing was very cheap. The theme somewhat flowed, however there wasn’t much to remind you that you were meant to be in a castle. There were a variety of various puzzle types, but no real surprises. Puzzles rarely extended outside of the room that they were discovered in. On the plus side, the final overarching puzzle was fun as it drew elements from all the previous stages. Some of the puzzles were tricky, although they were all logical and not too obscure. Like Plan X, this escape has some decent puzzles but Xspace needs to work on their theme integration and design to bump them up to the next level.
