This 60-minute escape is set in the apartment of a killer who has invited you over for a book club meeting. Your team is divided in two and placed in separate rooms. Escape the Book Club Killer executes the split-team scenario very well, with both teams having a similar amount of clues to work through. Communication between groups is key to solving a vast majority of the puzzles. The room design is fairly simple, having not changed much from being a simple apartment. However, there are decorative props and clues scattered throughout. The room is advertised as taking place in the 1990's where cellphones don’t exist, yet some of the puzzles utilize iPads and other modern electronics that don't really fit this theme. We would recommend that if LockQuest wants to maintain a theme from this era, they could consider using older electronics such as camcorders instead of iPads. In addition, this escape differs from most others in the fact that it is not linear, and doesn't adhere to the traditional clue-lock-key-room scenario. Instead, the large number of clues need to be interpreted together to solve one large mega-puzzle. Some people may enjoy this different type of room escaping, but some of our team members had mixed feelings about it. Overall, everyone agreed that this escape was very entertaining requiring an enormous amount of logic. If you are in the area, it is definitely worth a try!
