File 1720 is a single-room 60 minute escape that involves searching a mobster's office to find evidence of his criminal activity. It's not a completely unique idea but it's presented well here. Props are thematic and fit the theme well. Like Intrigues Urbaine's other escape Lake Kwanita, the decor of the walls, floor and ceiling were a little bland and could use a bit more detail. Some of the hanging objects were a little fragile, so we suggested that the staff incorporate some method of being able to manipulate them but by not taking them completely off the wall.

I really enjoyed the puzzles that File 1720 had to offer. It was nice how the escape seemed to flow naturally, with one puzzle leading to another in a sequential fashion. It really felt that we were searching through someone's real office and finding evidence. Puzzles were a mixture of old and new, with some nice surprises along the way. Everything around the room was used nicely. There were a couple of red herrings but not too many to hinder the experience. Nothing was too abstract and everything could be solved logically.

For players that get to the end, it's important to note that Intrigues Urbaines is in the process of getting a lock on their door so that players can actually "escape" the room. As of the time of posting this review, there was no lock on the door, so a staff member had to come in and tell us that it was over. I'm sure that this will be fixed very soon! Overall, File 1720 is a fun, average escape. Players young and old will have a good time acting as police and trying to find the evidence to put away the criminals!
