The Cabin is a very well decorated 45-minute escape game. Prior to entering, every member of your team is given a special item that really adds to the theme integration. The room looks, feels and smells like what you'd expect from a cabin in the woods. I really liked the background music as well. Every item around the room eventually gets utilized in one way or another which is a plus. I can tell Jigsaw really went the extra mile with the design of this room. Puzzles were very unique and interesting. However, it seems as though the designers may have been a bit over-ambitious. The room has way too many puzzles for 45 minutes. Usually in the games I don't win, I am close to the end. For this one, we were nowhere close to finishing even after using two hints. In addition, several of the puzzles require leaps of logic to understand how they work. Even after being told how to solve one, we were still confused. I think most of the problems stem from not having enough clues to direct the players to figure out which items to use when and for what purpose. I had a productive chat with the staff and they seemed very receptive to feedback. The Cabin has a lot of promise and it's designed extremely well. Here's hoping that with some tweaks and changes, this room will become one of the best in Ottawa!

UPDATE

I recently had the opportunity to go back to play The Cabin at Jigsaw Escape Rooms and similar to CSI: The Study, they have made some great updates! Our biggest issue with our first play through, was how abstract many of the puzzles were. This issue has been completely resolved! Nearly all of the puzzles have been redesigned or modified to create a fun, streamlined escape experience. The Cabin still is one of the most immersive experiences I've ever played, which has now been made even better. I applaud Jigsaw for making such thorough improvements to this room and I strongly recommend this escape to all enthusiasts in Ottawa!
