The Darkness is Escape Manor's newest 45-minute room and they definitely stepped up their game for this one! This is their most interesting and immersive theme to date. It takes place in the law offices of Lou Cifer after having made a deal with the devil. There is a large amount of detail in the room that I have come to expect from Escape Manor. I was impressed by the quality of items and their unique features. I was particularly excited by a large surprise about halfway through that, in my opinion, pushes this room into the realm of the top tier escape rooms in Ontario. Unlike Escape Manor's other rooms, I felt that this escape was quite well suited for 45 minutes. In fact, the staff mentioned that they had changed the room around since it launched a couple weeks ago to accommodate this fact. The puzzles were all interesting and logical. The Darkness sticks to traditional locks using numbers and keys. It would be nice to see different types of cool technology used for the locking and opening mechanisms. I was also expecting the actual darkness to be important given the name of the room. We really didn't need to use the flashlight all too much. I'm a fan of escapes involving some horror aspects so I wasn't sure what to expect from The Darkness. However, this room was actually very family friendly. Finally, the end was a little anticlimactic. It would be nice to have a separate door to exit from that utilizes technology for a cool finish. Overall, this is Escape Manor's best room to date and I highly recommend it!
