Escape Reviewer

The Heist is a great new escape room from the creative designers at Jigsaw. The premise is that you are part of an elite crime syndicate that's planning on robbing one of your previous associates. The idea is fun and the room is designed well. The decor is a step above Jigsaw's previous escape "CSI: The Study", but it doesn't quite reach the level of immersion in "The Cabin". Although the item quality is good, I never really got the feeling that I was actually breaking into someone's safe house. Perhaps some acting by the staff ahead of time or some more theatrics (ie. sound effects) may be able to add to the room's atmosphere.

 

The Heist's real strength lies in its puzzle creativity and quality. This is definitely Jigsaw's best set of puzzles so far, with nothing overly difficult or too easy. Most of the puzzles were very unique and fun to solve. Although the room wasn't very large, puzzles were integrated from all aspects around the escape. There were some nice surprises, especially one that involved some cool technology. Everything was very logical and only one clue near the end was a little abstract. The staff mentioned that this clue was actually intended to be slightly more logical, and I would encourage that they stick with their original plan for this one. There's one other minor concern that I want to address but it's difficult for me to do so without giving away an answer. All I'll say is that, generally speaking, I believe that certain items in rooms shouldn't be involved in puzzles, and because of this, I would move one of this room's clues to a different location.

 

Overall, The Heist is another great escape from the friendly staff at Jigsaw. Anyone who's a fan of Jigsaw's previous rooms will definitely find The Heist to be very entertaining. I recommend The Heist to everyone in the Ottawa area!
