Vacation Vandals is a single room 45-minute escape which takes place in Laser Quest's birthday room. You can immediately tell that they were getting ready for a birthday party, as there were several balloons hung from the ceiling. It's a good thing we didn't pop some of them thinking that there were clues inside! The decorations were almost nonexistent lest for some small props that were scattered across the room. At one point, we tried opening a door behind one of the tables, realizing after that it was connected to a smaller birthday room that was not part of the escape. We suggest putting locks or "No Entry" stickers on some doors and items that are not meant to be part of the game. The theme was interesting enough to hold our attention but there were no "wow factors". The goal was to find our lost vacation tickets through solving puzzles put forth by a very mean spirited individual. The end of the escape was a little underwhelming since there was no actual "escape", instead, it was just obtaining the tickets and then having a staff member come in to signal the end of the game. On the plus side, the puzzles were actually quite good. They were all logical with some fun use of the items. Overall, Vacation Vandals was a fun budget escape for $15 per player. If this is going to become a mainstay at Laser Quest, I suggest they put some more effort into their theme integration and decor, perhaps with a dedicated escape room area.
